Just an update

First off, HAPPY 45TH BIRTHDAY MOM! LOVE YA LOTS!

Well, I have been meaning to up date this thing for a while, so yah like I was saying on the last post, about the small groups, like everything else, they came and went and I think, it was a success! We are doing a study on the women in the bible, one per time that we meet, and so monday was on Sarah, as in Abraham and sarah. Now if any of you dont know that sarah, here is a quick overview. Her and Abraham kept wanting to have a child, but years passed and passed and nothing happened. FInally Sarah told her husband to sleep with Hagar and have a child through her, their servent, all while going against God;s will. So anyways, by the time Abraham was 100 years old, Sarah found out she was expecting, and soon after gave birth to a son, Isacc, who later fathered the sons of the 12 tribes and so on and so forth.

So anways, the whole point of the story, well one of them anyways, was waiting for God and his will, giving it all to him, complete control of your life.
Going in, I really had to idea what to expect. I had looked over my lesson a few times and all, but still I didnt know where God would take this, take about Giving God the control! We started off with kind of a deal or no deal type thing. THe girls, who ever wanted to, could have a hand full of whipping cream to cream someone with, or wait for 2 minutes in ice water for a plate full. Weell, lets just say that my group isnt quiet or shy, which is a good thing, so lots of wanting to people. Needless to say the whip cream in the face and watching the girls chase each other were lots of fun! The whole point of that was "was the waiting in the ice water, worth the wait for the plate of whip cream?" Yah it sure was for the girls that did it.

After that we got to the bibliical part of the study, studing sarah and asking ourselves the same questions she might have asked. We talked about how waiting was hard, and that we all fall short of it. Through it all, I think it went really well. I just have to keep reminding my self something I have learnt over and over from Missions, you may not think they are getting it, but they will remember the good times, and someday, the impact of talking about Sarah and waiting upon God, may hit them. So yah, next lesson? One of my favorite topics, Prayer and the impact, and the questions, "Does God really hear them?" "What is with unanswered prayers?" and all of those. So hopefully it will be good!
Enjoy the pics, I dont think they need a caption!
have a good night!

The Road of Life

So for small groups for Bible study tomorrow, I was going through the lesson and came accross this little poem at the end. I thought it sums up this journey we call life pretty good. For you guys in school and in the city who read this- remember life isnt suppose to be easy, just remember and keep your faith and you will survive!
The Road of Life
At First,
I saw God as my observer,
my judge,
keeping track of the things I did wrong,
so as to know whether I merited heaven
or hell when I die.
He was out there sort of like a president.
I recognized his picture when I saw it, but I didn’t really know him.

But later on
when I met Christ,
it seemed as though life were rather like a bike ride,
but it was a tandem bike,
and I noticed that Christ was on the back
helping me pedal.

I didn’t know just when it was
that he suggested we change places
but life has not been the same since.

When I had control,I knew the way.It was rather boring,but predictable…
It was the shortest distance between two points. But when he took the lead,
He knew delightful long cuts,
Up mountainsand through rocky places
at breakneck speeds,
it was all I could do to hang on!Even though it looked like madness,He said “Pedal!”I was worried and anxious
and asked, ”Where are you taking me?”He laughed and didn’t answer
and I started to learn to trust.I forgot my boring life
and entered into an adventure
and when I’d say, “I am scared,”
He’d lean back and touch my hand
He took me to people with gifts that I needed,
Gifts of healing,
Acceptance
And joy
They gave me gifts to take on my journey,my Lord’s and mine

And we were off again,
He said, “Give the gifts away;
They’re extra baggage, too much weight.”
So I did, to the people we met,and I found that in giving I receive,
And still our burden was light

I did not trust Him,
At first,in control of my life.
I thought He’d would wreck it;
But He knows bike secrets,
knows how to make it bend to take sharp corners,
knows how to jump to clear high rocks,
knows how to fly to shorten scary Passages.

And I am learning to shut up
And pedal
in the strangest of places,
and I am beginning to enjoy the view
and the cool breeze on my face
with my delightful companion, Jesus Christ

And when I am sure I can’t do anymore,
He just smiles and says… “Pedal.”

Ipods, Jr. Youth

Well, another week has come and gone, and through it I have only made one entry on here. After waiting for almost two weeks, I finally got my Ipod that my brother order for me, and bought for me, as a grad gift. I was suppose to have it within a week, but funny story... Apparently during shipment, the box it was in, fell out and somehow got placed and ended up here where I work in town (A warehouse distribators, so we ship packages of office goods and school things for people when they call), turns out that I might have even seen this box at work in REceiving, but since it didnt belong there, the people at work, shipped it back to BC, where it came from! So close, yet so far! Now I dont know if that made sense, but you would think that they would look at the label on the box. Since it was suppose to get hand delieverd to my house, you would think they would recongize the town address, and then go around asking or something, but no, the shipped it back to BC!! But all in all, I fianlly got it, and I love it!! (other then the fact that it already screwed up on me!)

This past Thursday was the second week of Jr youth. Wow do those kids have energy! We played get to know the leaders, and then later broke the kids up in small groups for every oother week. Today I spent sometime looking at the small group material. It should be interesting, and also challenging on how to present the ideas and stories in a way that will be impacting for the 7 girls that I have. But I remain faithful that God will use the time to reach the girls, in whatever way, so it should be a good time!

Will it ever end?

I wonder what it will be like in Heaven when skin colour, race, gender, orgin background, nationality, money and all those other things that screw up this world will be like, wont be there. Will we still have the skin colour we have here? Or will we just be blind to it and just get along? At any given time, you can turn on the news , and some where, someone was killed, murdered, a suicide attack this or that. What is this world coming to? Does life not mean anything to some people? How can someone want to die, going out and then taking their own life, and the lives of others (We just lost for young Canadian Soliders...) and civillians as well. For each "casualtity" in war, civillian and solider, how many of those that died could have perhaps come up with a cure for Cancer, AIDS, and HIV or another epidemic striking the nations? How many would have been the next CS Lewis, JJR toliken, Shakespeare? The Next greatest hockey player, or invented some sort of thing that would save the atomosphere? You know things that like.

Before this summer, for each Canadian Solider thaat died from suicide attacks or from fighting, I will admit that my strongly dislike, and even hate would just increase towards the Taliban, and Afgahn people in general.
(yeah I know, I fit in perfectly in town if you know what I mean) My thinking was that, who cares if the people die, its their own people doing the killing, why do we have to sacrifice our young people who are tryuing to bring peace, for the sake of them? You know along that line of thinking. I look back now at that and go wow, its is because of people similar to me. Jesus didnt just love the people like him, he love everybody. He would spend time with lepers, sick, the blind, Demon Possesed, so why Cant I, accross the ocean even, love these people and pray for them? Because it is thanks to Human nature, and small town beliefs and ways.

This past summer, as I mentioned lots, we went to Chalo. GOing in I had no idea, well some idea, of what the nationallity of the people there would be. The ones I knew, were ones that feld their countries for political reasons (Sudan, columbia etc), and then the first day there, we met two guys from Afganistan. Two guys, who with their families had to flee their country from war, yet even still, just cause they were from there, I had an instant resistment to them. I prefered to aviod them. Through that sweeping Saturday morning, i told the person that I was working with my feelings. I realized they were wrong, and I asked God to help me through them. Well, thanks to God;s Mercy and goodness, my heart was softened through the week as I saw them (the guys), play with kids of different colour, interact with the team, kick our butts at soccer, and just through talking. These guys, these brothers, turned out to be so much fun! By the end of the week, it was hard to say good bye. The older one even gave up his morning on that Thursday to help us clean the area from the night before. On the way home, I had lots of time to ponder this all. God had showed me so much that week, but now as i look back, I think the biggest thing I learned is that loving people who you want to love is easy, its loving the people that are hard to love-those are the ones we all fall short at some point sooner or later. For me, it was loving those guys, but it doesnt have to be people of a different colour or Nationallity, it can be neighbour, a church member, someone at work or school, even a sibling or parent.

So when I hear about Canadian Soliders who die, even at teh young age of 22, my hear saddens, and the sense of loss is there, but my heart saddens more for the two young afgahn girls, the mom hugging her baby tight as the bomb went off. Young lives wasted in a war that will never end. What can I do? I use a weapon more powerful then any gun or nuclear advice will ever be, I bow my head and Pray...

How Great is Our God

How Great is Our God
-Chris Tomlin-
Arriving
The splendor of a King,
clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice
All the earth rejoice
He wraps himself in Light,
and darkness tries to hide
And trembles at His voice
Trembles at His voice
How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God
Age to age He stands
And time is in His hands
Beginning and the end
Beginning and the end
The Godhead Three in One
Father Spirit Son
The Lion and the Lamb
The Lion and the Lamb
Name above all names
Worthy of our praise
My heart will sing
How great is our God
How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God
Some times Lyrics from songs sum up how you are feeling! Have a great day!

Remember when...?

So last night, I was just so hyper, I have no idea why- Could be from struggling to lift a box of Apples with Niki, to just having work done, to having had too much sleep, or lack of sleep the night before, who knows, so anyways, since I was really hyper and in one of those moods where I could talk and talk and not shut up! (Maybe it was just the Braun side showing through!! Oh no someone please save me! If you know any of the Brauns I am talkgn about.. Look out!!!) So yah, again I was just thinking how muuch my life has changed since school has been done. I know I have blog about this, or similar to this idea, but like I said, Now is when is it hitting me that I am done school, I dont have to go back if I dont want to, a part of me is free. I look back at Grade 12 and go yah, that really was a great year. Not becuase anything spectacular happend or anything, it was just good, and if I could, I would do it again. YIP was a huge highlight for me this last year, something in which I learnt alot, and had tons and tons of fun doing it! (Kids are so much fun!) Towards the end of school, I started to appreciate the classes, the teachers and all that the word "school" means. I will admit, I miss the classes, the teachers (well some...), hanging out with friends daily (if any of you guys read this, we REALLY need to get together SOON!) and just that contact that you get so used to after 12 years of 9-3:30 schooling. Even though I didnt participate much, I miss PK's english classes where we talk about random stuff, random, but yet really practical to every day life, and then hearing other people argue about something else and this and that. Yah, I even miss those classes with TK where he goes on and on about some government thingg and you could drop dead asleep within seconds if you could. (I know a few people, who used that class daily for sleeping!) Good times! I miss those certain guys who act like idiots during lunch hours, or one of the many arguments with teachers! You know , its too bad that we dont really realize that those are the good times when they are happening. people always said, "Once you are out of high school, you will want back in" When Dang it, they are right yet again! I look at my little brother in grade 7, and think, "man kid, you have it so good! Just enjoy it" Does he know that?

Last night, we had our first youth leaders mtg. Just stepping back in the Hub, its like all those last 5 years of youth (jr. and Sr.) came rushing back. It still smells like it did! How many times did we hang otu by the bar, no not a real bar, and just talk, and ate tons of junk food, oh and Cinnimon Buns! yum yum yum! Candy Potluck night, that was a good time as well. Maybe I need to appreciate where I am now, living at home for free, no bills to pay, the money I earn is totally spending money for me, no homework at the moment, have my evenings free... Yah, maybe I should leave the past in the past, and just enjoy the present (as hard as getting up and going to work maybe somedays!

So yah, i am off to enjoy the eveing more by walking the dog!
Have a good one, and enjoy life now, in the present!

How many more months?

Lets see, Today is September 11, 2006 (5 years since 9/11...), so there is October, November, December, January, February , and about half of March, so with the rest of this month, and then March, lets just make that a whole month, so that is 6 more months till I leave. 6 More long long months! I know I know I am complaining, and I know how I posted something after Chalo about how no job is meaningless, and this and that, but man, it is just so hard when everyone else at work, complains about these little stupid things. It can so quickly change your mood, and its just frusterating. You just want to go up to them and go, seriously, come on, act your age, type thing. It is a really good thing that I know where I want to go, if I was just suppose to work for a year, just earning money, I really think I would go insane!! (And even with that goal, if I start acting more crazy then I usually do, some one please knock some sense into me!) its not like the days are even long, the seem to go by rather quickly, although 2:45-4:00 is long! I am so glad youth starts this week, that should help as well, more into a routine, and keeps my mind off other things. Again on that note, in stead of complaining, I should be thanking God for giving me a job that allows me to be off at 5:30, so I can be at youth for 7/7:30. So yah, if you have time now until I leave, or are sending up daily prayers, just please send on short one up for me, asking God to give me strenggth and endurance. When I bike to work-the all of 5 minutes, I have gotten into a habit of just talking to God, listening to Music, and just giving thanks to him. Its 5 minutes, and as rotten as some days are, I really think they would be worse if I didnt do that. I am also noticing that my attitude is changing, and I think its changing into a similar one like Corey's (Is that a good thing? I dont know!!) where as new things come, I am just looking at them as a learning experience, wether its shrink wrapping, doing a long long order, and just work in general. So yah, ok breathe, thats my thoughts for today
Hope your day was better then mine!

Oh yah, today at my little brothers soccer thing, I was talking with someone whose daughter went on a missions trip to Jamaica(the more dangerous area), and I caught the feeling that maybe the mom didnt think that was all that good of an idea (the dangerous part of it). So I just mentioned what we did at Chalo, and how first off it was not only cheaper, and closer to home, and safer, but how I Learnt so much. I told her abit about the people we worked with, talked to, and how i again realized that you dont need to even leave your own coommunity to do missions work (she agreed). So yah, its was just good to talk about that, share feelings , this and that, and who knows, maybe something will come from that...

Sept Long

So this past weekend, we went camping one last time just south of the border. Its crazy, I remember thinking in May, that wow, its May already! and now, its almost middle of September! A new school year has started, for those still in school, or just starting University. I think back and go in May I was anticipating Grad, and all that that word implies, I was just finishing up a job, getting ready to apply for a full time job, we were waiting for two new arrivels to enter the family, and camping season was just starting! And now, its over for another year! I look back over those last few months and realize how much I really did learn. I learnt things about myself, other people, and things about life in general. From waking up every morning, or going to bed, we are constantly learning new things. Now I know that it wasnt only these last few months that I learned stuff, but maybe with getting older, you just realize it more. Though this summer in particular, has been quuite someting with work, st. L, and Chalo. I am so glad that I had those opportunity's, and I feel so blessed as well. It just all makes you appreciate life a bit more, even hairy little catipillers and dragon flies that land on your arm! Or maybe reminds you to just "do good". So following are a few pics from the last camping for 06. Check out the sunsets! That is just the best place ever for them! Especially with the lake and everything!

saying Good byes

Yah I know its been a while since I have updated this, so here we go.
First off, I really hate saying Good bye, and I have been doing lots of that this past week.
The first one was saying good bye to a close cousin. She is off to study in Montreal for who knows how long, I think it is 6 years, and so that means that I will only see her Christmas's if I am lucky. So yah, and I know how hard that will be on her mom as well, so Christmas can't come fast enough! Then on Tuesday last week, I said Good bye to a friend who is off to take a semester of schooling in BC. She seems really excited, and so I am happy for her- but a good bye is still a good bye and lots can change in a few months. Then on friday, I said good bye to another friend who is off to Bethany in SK for schooling as well. That came up very quickly-so all the best to her! I know I will see these people again, but in the mean time, again, saying good bye still sucks.

As for me? Well, I am slowly starting to look at flights, and things I need to get ready, (passport being number 1) for when I leave in March. Yeah as of now, its still a go, and slowly I am starting to get more and more excited! Only now it will be harder to stay at home and work becuase you hear of everyone else talking about University, living in dorm or appartments, this and that. So yah part of me wishes that I was there, experiencing that with them, but while the other part, is still determined to go to Sweden in March. I know that that side will win out, but its still hard, plus I have to keep telling myself that Work is an experince as well.

So yah, short entry today, so enjoy the day, week, and month! I am off to lunch!
